The section was set up in 2007 and is growing steadily. The range is separate from the firearm range and meets 10m competition standards.
Rifles of up to 12 ft/lb or pistols of up to 6ft/lb pressure are permitted to be used, either your own, or those owned by the Club. Although members can use their own .22 or .177 air rifles, only .177 calibre weapons are eligible for the competitions.
Whilst the normal minimum age limit for club membership is 14 years (a legal restriction for shooting firearms), exceptionally we will grant membership of the air gun section to responsible and well-behaved youngsters from 12 years of age. The law requires that "under 14s" be supervised at all times when shooting by a person over the age of 21. Further, the law states "no person under the age of 14 may purchase, hire or be given an airgun or ammunition."
A more comprehensive summary of the law relating to air guns can be found using the link from the Members' Area page, or click here.
We encourage members to shoot in club teams in league competitions.
